"No Trick, Our Treat" Report
With Halloween becoming increasingly commercial, the opportunities for the church to respond and create alternative events are even more pressing.
So under Steph Masinton's inspiration the Explorers, Round the Table and Sweaty Church teams coming together to deliver “No Trick – Our Treat!”
It was a collection of activities from the traditional apple-bobbing game to the more bizarre “Tumble-Towny” (where a suspended boxing bag was launched by children at the unfortunate Andrew Townend with the sole purpose of knocking him off his feet). Other activities too included a cake walk, a giant fishing game, crafts, photo taking, face painting and balloon popping lucky dip. With hot dogs and drinks on sale and sweets galore, it was one of those events that just worked!!
Over 80 children and parents from St Paul's school responded to the advert, who were joined by some families from our own congregation. One child left saying “it was the best event that he'd been to at St Pauls!”
We have a lot to live up to!
