Forgiveness
Sometimes Jesus shows us where he will not budge.
He tells a story about a servant who is forgiven an enormous debt that he owes to his ruler but refuses to forgive a tiny debt owed to him. He pays a high price for his hard heart. The parable reveals forgiveness as one of those areas where Jesus is adamant. Why is something so difficult also so essential? My experience is that forgiveness is often a long and complicated journey but that nobody who wants to walk as Jesus walked can ignore the cultivation of a merciful heart.
